Frequent Questions

A few of the most frequent questions we are asked are ...

How long does it take to setup and take down the display every year?

It is Christmas in the heart that puts Christmas in the air.It takes approximately eight full (8 hour) weekend days to set the display up, but only 3 full days to take it down!

How many lights do you have?

We stopped counting at 30,000 lights, years ago, and have expanded on that number each year since!

How much electricity does this display consume?

We run a total of four 15 amp, two 20 amp and one 30 amp circuits to power the entire display. As we have started to switch over to LED lights, in place of the conventional mini-lights, we have found our electrical demands have been significantly less, in spite of the fact that we have added to the display every year!

Where do you purchase the displays?

LOR: Micro-processor based lighting controllersThe vast majority of the displays are home made, including much of the actual electronics. We use Lexan to design many of the display items. That will be covered elsewhere.

The purchased items include the actual mechanically animated figures, the blow molds, the train, and the computerized lighting control system (called LOR)

When can we visit?

The display runs every night from 5pm to 11pm, from the day after Thanksgiving, until New Years Eve. The Christmas music the display is synchronized to may be heard by tuning your car FM radio to 104.9 Mhz. Additional display information is also broadcast.

Parts of the display electronically activate as cars pull in the driveway. The display can only be seen in its entirety from the parking area, located midway up the drive.
